Before my mom left our home this past Tuesday evening, the last time I would see her for the next 6 weeks, she said these words to me:
"Christ has no body on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which Christ's compassion for the world is to look out; yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good; and yours are the hands with which He is to bless us now." ~Saint Teresa of Avila
Those words really spoke to me, especially in light of my upcoming trip, and were perfect coming from my mom. Moms always know just what you need, don't they?? :)
So how surprised was I when I logged into my mission trip account this morning to find those exact same words on the screen in front of me, put there by one of the fantastic ministries that we will be supporting while we are in Africa?! I had goosebumps. Literally.
I should not have been surprised though, really. God is telling me something, telling us all something. You just have to stop and listen...

Humbled
Humbled. That is what I am.
I knew going into this journey of missions that God would provide for this trip, not only financially, but spiritually as well. I just had such peace about committing to this trip, even from the very beginning, knowing that He would work out all the details for me. Even when people questioned how we could fund such an expense, I just answered, "I don't know, but God does." He was (is) going to use this for His good, He just needed me to say yes.
Knowing deep down that He will provide still doesn't prepare one's self for actually seeing that provision.
I am not surprised that He has used such special people in my life to help provide for this trip, but I am still blown away. Seeing the funds keep pouring in, and the total that I have to meet keep lowering, just leaves me speechless. Knowing that the financial aspect of this trip is not solely on my shoulders, but is also being fulfilled through the love of others, is humbling indeed.
Today marks my first "financial deadline" and I have just about completed it, with so many others' help. I have one more final deadline to meet next month and the trip will then be fully funded. Friends, I am 45% there!!
THANK YOU to those of you who have donated to this cause financially, especially in light of our country's economic status and the stressors that have hit our bank accounts. Thank you for supporting me -- I am without words as to how deeply touched I am knowing that you believe in me and this mission. But most of all, thank you for helping the world's most vulnerable. You are providing for these children who need love, and a hurting people who need to know there is a Savior who loves them more than they can possibly comprehend, and that He is for them.
Your actions are making a difference, and they are noticed not only here and now, but for all eternity.
“If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth” -- 1 John 3:17-18

Welcome!
Thank you for visiting 'Love Calling'! I am so glad that you stopped by! :)
This blog will be the space where I write about God's calling on my life to be love to others. Specifically, being love to the orphans of the world.
God's gentle whisperings to my heart about the orphans of the world began long ago, but I am sad to say that I didn't really pick up on it and truly listen until about two years ago. Since then I have felt led to go on a missions trip and minister to orphans, and God answered and sealed the deal on that earlier last week. I will be going on my first missions trip later this summer!
There is much to be done in preparation for this trip, and this blog space will allow me to document not only the actual mission adventure, but the work leading up to it, and my feelings throughout it all.
I pray that this blog blesses others, and continues the work for God's great kingdom. To Him be all the glory!
